The canton of Rohrbach-lès-Bitche was a French constituency in the Arrondissement of Sarreguemines , in the Moselle department and in the Lorraine region between 1790 and 2015 . The canton was integrated into the canton of Bitche in 2015 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District Bitsch".

From 1871 to 1919 and from 1940 to 1944 there was no further subdivision of the then " Saargemünd district ".

geography

The canton was located in the western part of the Bitscher Ländchen ( Pays de Bitche ) , to which the cantons Volmunster and Bitche also belonged and which lay east of the Saar low in a predominantly agricultural area. The highest point was the Sauereck near Lambach with 429 m, the lowest place Kalhausen with 203 m.

Communities

The only municipality over 2,000 inhabitants was the main town Rohrbach-lès-Bitche with 2,115 inhabitants. (1999).
