The canton of Rombas is a French constituency in the arrondissement of Metz , in the department of Moselle and in the region of Grand Est (until 2015 Lorraine ); its capital is Rombas .
history
A first canton of Rombas was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the departments as part of what was then the "District of Briey". And dissolved again in 1801. Today's canton of Rombas was created on August 8, 1967 when the canton of Metz-Campagne was divided. Until 2015 only 2 municipalities belonged to the canton of Rombas. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 14. In addition to the previous 2 communes, all 12 communes of the previous canton of Marange-Silvange were added.

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, Amnéville and Rombas (capital) belonged to the canton of Rombas from the two municipalities . Its layout corresponded to an area of 22.15 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5742.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, Camille Gazaud / Alexandre Siner, none of the five pairs of candidates reached an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Danielle Calcari-Jean / Lionel Fournier (both PS) won against Roland Fremery / Delphine Haffner (both FN ) with a share of the vote of 54.06% (turnout: 44.45%).
