The canton of Fameck is a French constituency in the Thionville arrondissement in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). Its main town is Fameck .

history

The canton was created on January 25, 1982 from parts of what was then the canton of Florange. Until 2015, only three municipalities belonged to the canton of Fameck. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to five in 2015. Florange and Uckange from the previous canton of Florange were added to the previous 3 municipalities .

Until the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons in March 2015, the canton of Fameck included the three municipalities, three municipalities, Fameck (main town), Mondelange and Richemont . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​25.03 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 5745.
