Hilsprich is a French commune with 857 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Lorraine ). It is part of the Sarreguemines arrondissement and the Sarralbe canton .

geography

The community is about 20 kilometers south of Forbach . In addition to the main town of Hilsprich, there are the districts of Morsbronn and Castviller .

history

The place was first mentioned in 1466 as Hulsperg . Other names were Hulsszperg (1479), Hulsperge (1544), Hilsperg (1594), Hilsprick (1756) and Hilprich (1801).
