geography

Bousseviller is located in the far north of Lorraine , a few kilometers south of the border with the Palatinate , north of Bitche in the Hornbachtal , within a large agricultural area that is bordered by the vast Vosges forests.

history

At the end of the 12th century, a settlement at this point is first mentioned, which was on the border of the territory of the Counts of Zweibrücken-Bitsch . The name Buss-Weyler , later Bussweiler , which is said to be derived from the Germanic name Bosso , appears for the first time in 1493. The place always belonged to Zweibrücken-Bitsch. From 1790 to 1801 Bousseviller was assigned to the no longer existing canton Breidenbach and then administered by Volmunster . Ecclesiastically was Walschbronn responsible to 1804 since Bousseviller belongs to the parish Hanviller .
