(*) On January 20, 1989 there was a traffic accident involving the Samsunspor team bus . In the tragic accident, the club lost its coach and three players, and many of the other players were injured. The accident happened on the way to the away game against Malatyaspor . Due to this event, the team could not compete in the second half of the season, so the Turkish Football Association decided not to let Samsunspor compete in the second half of the season. All games were decided 3-0 for the opponent Samsunspors. Samsunspor finished last, but did not relegate.
