1st Lig 1986/87

The 1st Lig 1987/88 was the 30th season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It began on August 15, 1987 with the game Fenerbahçe Istanbul against Karşıyaka SK , which went 2-1 and ended on May 29, 1988. A winter break was waived this season.

Galatasaray Istanbul was the first and thus Turkish champion in the 1987/88 season and thus defended his title. It was the eighth title for Galatasaray.

In this season only four teams were relegated to the 2nd league, as the championship was to be played again with 19 teams in the coming season. In addition, the 3-point rule (three points for a win) was introduced.

Attendees

For the 1st Lig 1987/88 the remaining 17 clubs from the previous season were joined by the three promoted teams from the last second division season . This increased the number of participants from 19 to 20 participants. The climbers were the three second division champions Karşıyaka SK , Adana Demirspor and Sakaryaspor . While Karşıyaka SK returned to the 1st Lig after 16 years, it was the direct resurgence for Sakaryaspor. Adana Demirspor returned to the 1st Lig after four years.
