Mersad Kovačević (born October 15, 1956 in Tuzla , SFR Yugoslavia , now Bosnia and Herzegovina ) is a former Yugoslav football player .

Career

Kovačević started his career at FK Sloboda Tuzla . There he played a total of eleven years and then moved to Turkey to Beşiktaş Istanbul . In his first season with the Black Eagles , Kovačević scored 17 goals in 34 league games. In the following season 1985/86 he again scored 17 goals and became Turkish champions with his teammates.

For the 1986/87 season, the striker moved to Galatasaray Istanbul . During his time at Galatasaray, Kovačević was twice Turkish champion and Turkish Supercup winner. In 1989 Mersad Kovačević left the yellow-reds and moved to the 2nd Turkish league to Goztepe Izmir , where he ended his career in 1990.
