1st Lig 1985/86

The 1st Lig 1986/87 was the 29th season of the highest Turkish league in men's football . It began on August 24, 1986 with the game Boluspor against MKE Ankaragücü , which went 1: 1 and ended on June 7, 1987. From December 28, 1986 to January 24, 1987 the season was interrupted by the winter break.

Galatasaray Istanbul became the first and thus Turkish champion . It was the seventh title for Galatasaray after 14 untitled years in the club's history.

The coach of the championship team was Jupp Derwall . He was the first German coach to lead a Turkish team to the championship.

In this season only two teams were relegated to the 2nd league, as in the following season 1987/1988 the championship should be played with 20 teams.

Attendees

For the 1st Lig 1986/87, the three promoted teams from the last second division season have been added to the 16 clubs that remained from the previous season . The climbers were the three second division champions Boluspor , Antalyaspor and Diyarbakırspor . While the rise for Diyarbakırspor returned with the rise after five years in the 1st Lig, the rise for Boluspor and Antalyaspor meant the direct resurgence.

    useful information

    • Championship fight between Galatasaray Istanbul and Beşiktaş Istanbul

In February 2012, the then former Beşiktaş football director Abdi Celal Kolot accused Galatasaray of " stealing the championships [s] of a youth [... of his club ...] on a Turkish football talk show . As for displacement, we clearly learned from Galatasaray [es] ”.

The then Denizlispor player Mesut Bakkal from the 1986/87 season published his book in March 2020: "Mesut Bir Adamin Hikayesi" ( German  Mesut, the story of a man ). In it he admitted that the Denizlispor team was doped on the penultimate match day against the championship candidate Beşiktaş Istanbul and received "Tesvik primler" ( German  motivational bonuses ) from the other championship candidate Galatasaray Istanbul if successful . The game ended with a 1-1 draw, so the championship candidate Beşiktaş suffered a point loss in the title fight. At the end of the season, Galatasaray was after 14 years championship abstinence (1973) just before Beşiktaş Turkish champions. After the book was published, Beşiktaş Istanbul officially demanded from the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) that the game between Beşiktaş and Denizlispor be subsequently scored 3-0 in favor of Beşiktaş and that the Turkish championship should be awarded in 1987, based on information from Bakkal. The "motivational bonus" defended by Bakkal des was not forbidden at the time, it was only forbidden by the TFF in 1998 to accept other motivational bonuses.
