Erhan Önal (born September 3, 1957 in Izmir ) is a former German-Turkish football player .

Career

At the age of seven, Önal came to Germany with his family from Turkey. After his youth at SV Schwarz Weiss München , Önal switched to the amateur team at FC Bayern München in 1973 . In the 1976/77 season he was promoted to the Bavarian professional squad and thus - as the first migrant child of Turkish descent - to the Bundesliga .

He completed his first of 18 Bundesliga games on January 22, 1977 (19th match day) in a 2-2 draw at home against MSV Duisburg ; his only goal was the goal scored against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on April 7, 1977 (29th matchday) in the 57th minute to make it 3-0 . He also came in the two quarter-finals on March 2 and 16, 1977 in the European Cup (forerunner of the Champions League ) against Dynamo Kiev and one in the DFB Cup competition on August 10, 1977 at 1. FC Saarbrücken , against which FC Bayern Munich won 2-1.

After the 1977/78 season he moved to Belgium for the first division Standard Liège , for which he was active in the 1st division until 1983 and won three titles. In 1985 he signed the first division Galatasaray Istanbul , for which he played until the 1992/93 season and also won three titles. Önal stayed in Turkey and has been a member of the association since 1993.

National team

From 1979 to 1981 Önal played seven times for the senior national team in his country. He made his debut on February 28, 1979 in Bursa in the 1-0 defeat against Algeria , scored on November 21, 1979 in Izmir, in the 1-0 victory over Wales , the winning goal and thus his only international goal and last stood on April 15, 1981 in Istanbul in the 3-0 defeat against the ČSSR in the team.

In the 2000/01 season , his son from his marriage to Birgit Mölzl, Patrick Mölzl, was also in the professional squad for FC Bayern Munich, but was never used.
