Arif Kocabıyık (born September 1, 1958 in Izmir ) is a former Turkish football player . During his career, Kocabıyık was dubbed Çingene Arif (Arif, the Gypsy) or Dansöz Arif (Arif, the dancer) by the media due to his good ball technique . Football fans also called him Piç Arif (Arif, the bastard).
Career
Kocabıyık started his career in the youth of Goztepe Izmir . In 1977 he switched to the youth of İzmirspor . After two years at İzmirspor, he was signed by the newly promoted Süper Lig Çaykur Rizespor . There he immediately belonged to the first eleven. In two seasons for Rizespor, he made 54 league games and scored one goal.
In the summer of 1981, the midfielder moved to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . In his second year with Fenerbahçe, he became Turkish champion and cup winner for the first time. His second league title followed in 1985. In the same year Fenerbahçe Kocabıyık offered a new contract, but he did not like the contract offer. For the sum of 10 million Turkish lira at the time, he bought himself free from his contract with the support of his teammates. He moved to city rivals Galatasaray Istanbul . In the 1986/87 season Kocabıyık celebrated his third championship title. Galatasaray became Turkish champions after 14 years. A season later, he was champion for the fourth and final time.
In 1989 Arif Kocabıyık left the yellow-reds and moved to the 2nd Turkish league to Goztepe Izmir . Transfers to Bursaspor and Elazığspor followed . He ended his career at Elazığspor.
