MA Rothschild & Sons

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

MA Rothschild & Sons was a banking house. It was founded in 1766 by Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744–1812) in Frankfurt am Main . In 1810 he took his five sons into the business. His successor in Frankfurt was his eldest son Amschel Mayer von Rothschild (1773–1855). He had a classicist office building built at Fahrgasse 146 (corner of Fahrgasse and Judengasse ) in 1813. Then his nephews Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild (1828–1901) and Mayer Carl von Rothschild (1820–1886) took over. In 1901 the bank was liquidated because there was no member of the Rothschild family who wanted to succeed Wilhelm Carl von Rothschild.
