Bülent Uygun (born August 1, 1971 in Sakarya ) is a former Turkish soccer player and today's soccer coach .

Player career

Uygun began his professional career in 1989 at Kocaelispor and finished it in 2003 with Anadolu Üsküdar 1908 SK . In between he played for: Çanakkale Dardanelspor , Kocaelispor, Çanakkale Dardanelspor, Trabzonspor , Göztepe Izmir , Zonguldakspor , Sivasspor . Uygun played eleven times for the Turkish national soccer team . He experienced the best years of his career at Fenerbahçe Istanbul , where he was top scorer with 22 goals in the 1993/94 season.

Coaching career

Uygun coached Sivasspor from November 2006 to October 4, 2009, when he quit the coaching post because of the bad start to the season. For the 2010/11 season he was signed by Bucaspor . On the 5th game day he resigned from his position in Buca and became the coach of league rivals Eskişehirspor . For this change he received a fine of 200,000 TL (approx. 95,000 €) from the association for breach of contract.

At the end of March 2012 he was introduced as the new coach of the Turkish first division club Elazığspor . Here he reached with the team at the end of the season the runner-up in the TFF 1st Lig and thus direct promotion to the Süper Lig . At the beginning of the season he let a large part of the promoted team pull and urged the club management to sign more players with whom he had already worked at Sivasspor and Eskişehirspor. After the club got off to a bad start into the season with just three points in seven games, Uygun announced his retirement on October 8, 2012.

Before the 21st match day of the 2012/13 season, Uygun was head coach at Gaziantepspor . His contract with Gaziantepspor was terminated on November 10, 2013.

From 2013 to 2016 he coached the Qatari club Umm-Salal SC . In January 2017, Uygun returned to Turkey and became the coach of Gaziantepspor for the second time.

Trivia

After the league game against Çaykur Rizespor on September 14, 2013, when Uygun coached the team from Gaziantepspor , which were lost 2: 5, Uygun criticized referee Fırat Aydınus in the press conference for his decisions and accused him, deliberately against himself to evaluate. The trade press almost unanimously confirmed the referee decisions criticized by Uygun, but criticized his behavior in the press conference. The disciplinary committee of the Turkish Football Association imposed a three game ban on Uygun and a fine of 14,000 Turkish Lira through his club . A day later, Uygun's game ban was lifted after the club transferred the fine.
