Player career

society

Altıparmak started professional football in the late 1950s at Karşıyaka SK . With this club he took part in the only regionally held İzmir Futbol Ligi and won the last championship of this league with her in the summer. Then Karşıyaka took part in the newly founded national league , the Süper Lig . With the participation in the Süper Lig Altıparmak was also considered for the national team and was henceforth one of the regularly nominated players.

In 1963 he suffered a serious broken leg and was out for several months. Despite this serious injury, he moved to the first division side Fenerbahçe Istanbul in the summer of the same year . This change was heavily criticized. After his injury had healed, he fought for a regular place and silenced the critics with convincing performances. In his first season he scored nine goals in 18 league games and had a share in the championship he won. Also in the European Cup Winners' Cup , he had three goals in four games in the quarter-finals. In the following years he was one of the most important players on his team and won a. a. three more championships. In the 1968/69 European Cup , Fenerbahçe came on completely surprisingly against the English champions Manchester City in the first round . Altıparmak scored the decisive 2-1 in the second leg.

He spent the second half of the 1968/69 season with the Washington Whips and returned to Fenerbahçe in the summer of 1969.

At the end of the 1970/71 season , Altıparmak was the top scorer of the Süper Lig with 16 goals and thus the first top scorer in the club's history. At the end of the season he announced the end of his football career. With a scheduled farewell game between Fenerbahçe and a national team on July 7, 1971, he said goodbye to active football.

National team

Altıparmak already played twice for the Turkish U-18 national team during his Karşıyaka time. After he had not been considered for three years, he fell on those responsible again after the founding of the Süper Lig and from then on played regularly for the Turkish national team . He made his international debut on October 8, 1961 during a friendly against Korea.

In 1965 he took part in the ECO Cup with Turkey and took second place. This cup was won two years later.

From then on he was one of the players who, with a few exceptions, were regularly appointed to the national team. He played for Turkey in the qualifying rounds of the 1962 World Cup , the 1966 World Cup , the 1968 European Championship and the 1970 World Cup . He completed a total of 32 games for the Ay-Yıldızlılar , scored six goals and played two of these games as team captain.

Coaching career

Following his active career, he tried his hand at coaching and trained unsuccessfully a. a. such teams as Giresunspor and Erzincanspor . Especially during his time at Erzincanspor, he was heavily criticized for only using the young and inexperienced players on loan from Fenerbahçe. After falling short of expectations, he was released.
