Zafer Biryol (born January 2, 1976 in Rize ) is a former Turkish football player . He was the top scorer in the top division of Turkey in the 2003/04 season . Through his successful work for Konyaspor , he is associated with this club and considered one of the most important players in the club's history. With 43 first division players for Konyaspor, he is by far the most successful first division shooter and also the only king of first division shooters in the club's history.

Player career

The striker began his career with Beşiktaş Istanbul in 1996 . There he played for three years as an amateur, two years as a reserve player and two years as a professional player. His last year at Göztepe Izmir was his most successful. He scored eight goals in 30 games. In the summer of 2003 he moved to Konyaspor and was the top scorer in the 1st Turkish Super League with 25 goals in 34 games . In the following season he was able to score 22 goals in 32 encounters. In 2005 he switched to Fenerbahçe Istanbul . There he was injured in the first training session and had to take a long break. Biryol has been playing for Bursaspor since June 2006 and the contract runs until 2008.

He last played in the 2010/11 season for Turkish third division club Konya Şekerspor . Here he was only able to play seven league games due to injury and was out most of the season. After his contract was not renewed at the end of the season, he ended his active career as a professional footballer.

National team

Biryol was appointed in 2003 as part of a friendly match against the second selection of the Scottish national team in the squad of the second selection of the Turkish national team, but was not used in this encounter.

In 2004 he then played five international matches for the first selection and scored one goal.

Coaching career

Biryol started his coaching career in 2014 with a junior coaching activity at İstanbulspor . He then worked at Osmanlıspor FK as an assistant coach from spring 2015, assisting head coach Uğur Tütüneker . In November 2015 he was introduced as the new head coach at the third division Bandırmaspor . Since Biryol did not have the necessary coaching license, his club officially shows him as an assistant coach, while Biryol's assistant coach İsmail Altınok was again given as the official head coach. In February 2016 he left the club by mutual agreement.

Trivia

  • After the end of his career, he moved to Canada with his family and founded a football school here. In 2014 he moved back to Turkey.
