In July 2014, at the age of 18, he made his league debut as a substitute in the Tippeligaen , the highest Norwegian league division .

For the 2015 Norwegian season, Sørloth was awarded to the first division club FK Bodø / Glimt , where the striker successfully scored 14 goals in 29 competitive games after initial difficulties and was one of the ten most successful goalscorers of the league season at the age of 19 . He also managed to achieve two flawless hat tricks this season in the 5-1 home win against Start Kristiansand and in the 6-1 home win against Stabæk Fotball , but in the game against Start Kristiansand the striker scored a total of four goals.

His achievements caught the interest of several football clubs. The Dutch first division club FC Groningen signed him in November 2015 for the second half of the 2015/16 season and for the next four and a half years for a transfer fee of 0.55 million euros .

For the 2017/18 season , Sørloth moved to the Danish first division club and European Cup contender FC Midtjylland for a transfer fee of less than five million Danish kroner , the equivalent of less than 0.7 million euros . In September 2017, at the age of 21, the Norwegian scored a hat-trick in a 5-1 home win in the league game against Hobro IK , for which he was later awarded by the Danish Super League. Here he played again successfully in 26 competitive games, the striker scored 15 goals and prepared nine goals .

As a top performer from Danish championship contender FC Midtjylland, Sørloth caught the attention of English first division club Crystal Palace . Despite his high-scoring achievements, the Wolves from Midtjylland gave him to the South Londoners of Crystal Palace after six months on the last day of the European winter transfer period 2017/18 for a lucrative transfer offer of at least 75 million Danish kroner, the equivalent of around 10 million euros from.
