The 2020/21 UEFA Nations League is the second edition of this tournament after the first edition in 2018/19 . The group stage of the tournament will take place between September and November 2020, the finals were originally scheduled for June 2021, but had to be postponed due to the postponement of the European Championship due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

Group stage

All UEFA members take part in the UEFA Nations League, currently 55. It is played in four leagues (A to D). In each league, the teams are divided into two (league D) or four (leagues A, B and C) groups by lot.

On September 24, 2019, a meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee took place in the Slovenian capital Ljubljana , at which a reform of the Nations League was decided. The leagues A and B from 12 to 16 and the League of 15 C was increased to 16 teams, which all athletic teams relegated the Erstaustragung remained in their class. In the top league, this affects Germany, Iceland, Poland and Croatia.

The group winners of leagues B, C and D should each move up one level in the Nations League 2022/23, the bottom group of leagues A and B, as well as two bottom group of League C determined in play-outs, should be relegated accordingly.

Final round ( Final Four )

The four group winners of League A play the UEFA Nations League winner among themselves in the knockout system. The semi-finals will be drawn by lot. The venue will be in one of the four qualified nations.

The final round was originally supposed to take place in June 2021. Since the European Championship has been postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the Nations League finals must also be postponed.

Remarks

↑ The final round was originally for the 2nd / 3rd. June (semi-finals) and June 6, 2021 (game for 3rd place / final). Due to the postponement of the European Championship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , the final round of the Nations League had to be postponed. A new termination has not yet been set.
↑ The play-outs are scheduled for the same days as the qualifying play-offs for the 2022 World Cup . If at least one group bottom in League C takes part in these play-offs, the play-outs are omitted and the teams in positions 47 and 48 in the Nations League final table (i.e. the two worst group bottoms in League C) are relegated to League D. .

[6] The final round was originally for the 2nd / 3rd. June (semi-finals) and June 6, 2021 (game for 3rd place / final). Due to the postponement of the European Championship as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic , the final round of the Nations League had to be postponed. A new termination has not yet been set.

[7] The play-outs are scheduled for the same days as the qualifying play-offs for the 2022 World Cup . If at least one group bottom in League C takes part in these play-offs, the play-outs are omitted and the teams in positions 47 and 48 in the Nations League final table (i.e. the two worst group bottoms in League C) are relegated to League D. .
