The LFF stadium ( Lithuanian LFF stadionas ) is a football stadium in the Lithuanian city of Vilnius . The stadium is named after Lietuvos Futbolo Federacija (LFF), the Lithuanian football association, which also owns the facility, which was built in 2004.
Before the current name, the sports facility was called Vėtra Stadium ( Lithuanian Vetros stadionas ) after the Vėtra Vilnius football club . This was dissolved in 2010 due to bankruptcy , whereupon the association took over the stadium. In its auditorium it offers seats for 5,422 visitors. From 2011 to 2012 the stadium was renovated and expanded with the support of UEFA . An expansion to 8,000 places is planned for the future.
The stadium is currently home to the FK Žalgiris Vilnius football club , which previously moved from the larger but outdated Žalgiris Stadium . Another stadium user is FK Riteriai . The stadium was also used by Polonija Vilnius until the club was dissolved in 2014 .
After the renovation, the stadium complies with the provisions of UEFA stadium category 3 . This means that international matches and matches in the Champions League and the Europa League can also be played. The Lithuanian national football team will play their qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup next to the S.Dariaus and S.Girėno stadium in Kaunas in the LFF venue.
