Joseph Henry Kuhns

Joseph Henry Kuhns (born September 1800 near Greensburg , Westmoreland County , Pennsylvania , †  November 16, 1883 ibid) was an American politician . Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joseph Kuhns attended the public schools of his home country and then until 1820 Washington College . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1823, he began to work in this profession in Greensburg. He later became a member of the Whig Party , founded in the 1830s .

In the congressional elections of 1850 Kuhns was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 19th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded the Democrat Job Mann on March 4, 1851 . Since he was not confirmed in 1852, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1853 . This was shaped by the events leading up to the civil war .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Joseph Kuhns practiced as a lawyer again. He died on November 16, 1883 in his hometown Greensburg, where he was buried.
