The Netanya Stadium ( Hebrew איצטדיון נתניה) is a football stadium in Netanya , Israel , which will replace the Sar-Tov Stadium as the home of the Israeli first division soccer club Maccabi Netanja from the 2012/13 season .
history
The entire stadium complex was built on an area of 16.3 hectares . It is to be connected to the railway and will accommodate a parking lot for around 1000 vehicles. Inside the stadium there will be 36 boxes, VIP seats and seats for the press. The Israeli architecture firm GAB (Goldschmidt Arditty Ben Nayin) was responsible for the architecture of the stadium. The company was also responsible for the renovation of the Petach Tikwa stadium . The construction costs amounted to 240 million shekels (around 48 million euros ). The stadium opened on October 30, 2012 after construction began in 2005. It currently offers space for 13,610 visitors on the two longitudinal stands. The sports facility is to be expanded to 24,000 seats in a second construction phase with an expansion of the back-door stands.
The first game was played by the home team Maccabi Netanja against Hapoel Tel Aviv . The game ended with a 2-1 win for the hosts.
The stadium was a venue for the U-21 European Football Championship 2013 in June of that year.
