The Bloomfield Stadium ( Hebrew אצטדיון בלומפילד) is a football stadium in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv-Jaffa . The facility was named after the Bernard and Louis Bloomfield brothers who financed the stadium.
history
The inauguration game took place on October 12, 1962 between Hapoel Tel Aviv and Shimshon Tel Aviv. On December 2, 1962, the festive friendly match between Hapoel Tel Aviv and FC Twente Enschede took place.
The three Israeli first division soccer teams Hapoel Tel Aviv , Maccabi Tel Aviv and Bne Jehuda Tel Aviv as well as the three second division soccer teams Beitar Tel Aviv, Shimshon Tel Aviv and Maccabi Jaffa play their home games in this stadium. The seating stadium used to hold a total of 14,413 spectators, including 690 VIP seats. There are also 52 seats in the press box. 2,157 seats are reserved for the guest fans.
After two years of renovation from 2008 to 2010, the stadium was awarded four stars by UEFA in September . This means that Champions League games can also take place in Bloomfield Stadium . For the 2013 UEFA European Under-21 Championship , the stadium was expanded to be one of four host cities, to 18,000 seats.
From the middle of 2017, the stadium was expanded to 29,150 seats and the stands were covered. The work for 275 million ILS (around 68 million euros) was completed in 2019. During the renovation phase, the teams based in the stadium had to move to other stadiums. Completion was targeted for May 2019. The reopening and the first game took place on August 25, 2019 on the first day of the new season . Bne Jehuda Tel Aviv defeated Hapoel Ironi Kirjat Schmona 2-1.
