Claudius Winterhalter

Claudius Winterhalter (born April 10, 1953 ) is a German organ builder .

Live and act

Claudius Winterhalter got his first contact with organ building in the workshop of his father, the organ builder Franz Winterhalter , who also worked as a church musician. He received his first piano and organ lessons from him and later learned to play the flute.

After training as an organ builder and the following years of practical experience, he passed the master's examination at the instrument making school in Ludwigsburg in 1975/1976 . At that time he was one of the youngest organ builders ever. Claudius Winterhalter then continued his education in various workshops, in particular he conducted intensive studies on the construction of French organs of the 18th and 19th centuries. In the summer of 1983 he officially took over his father's workshop.

Claudius Winterhalter's work focuses on the areas of intonation and design. There are usually ten employees in his workshop. He lives and works in Zell am Harmersbach and Oberharmersbach in the Black Forest.
