Muggensturm is a municipality in the west of Baden-Württemberg.
geography
Geographical location
Muggensturm is located in the Rhine valley at the foot of the Black Forest . The 27 km long Federbach flows through the village , in whose catchment area the Federbachbruch , a 43 hectare nature reserve (22.8 hectares of which is a fen), is located.
The neighboring towns include Bietigheim , Malsch , Oberweier , Kuppenheim , Waldprechtsweier and Bischweier (Rastatt).
Community structure
The Muggensturm village and the Ziegelhütte house in Steinhardt belong to the Muggensturm community. The Eichelbach and Frierlinde deserts are located in the municipality.
history
Muggensturm was 1193 in a document by Pope Coelestin III. first mentioned as Mugetstrum . The change in the spelling of the place name to Muggensturm has not yet been clearly clarified.

Dietmar Späth (* 1963), a graduate in administration, was elected mayor in 1993 to succeed Christoph Müller. In 2001 he was confirmed in office with over 96% approval, in 2009 with 98.5%. In 2005 he ran for the district administrator of the Rastatt district and in 2007 for the mayor of Achern, but was defeated in both elections.

The Muggensturm community is a member of the MÖBS community association .
Town twinning
In June 2002, a town partnership was officially sealed with the Italian municipality of Gradara in the province of Pesaro and Urbino .
In 2011, the German-German town partnership with the municipality of Schönwalde-Glien (Brandenburg) was added.
Culture and sights
art
In 2005 the Muggensturm Citizens' Band was installed in the town hall, a communal photo album that is unique in the world. A communication art work for which the journalist Anton Jany photographed 2,316 Muggensturm citizens. The portraits of the citizens are "immortalized" on ceramic tiles, which, strung together, lead like a ribbon through the corridors of the town hall.
Monuments
A memorial near Muggensturm commemorates the Prussian soldiers who died on June 29, 1849 in the battle on the Federbach. The revolutionary troops fought bravely against the overwhelming Prussian forces, but achieved only partial successes.
Regular events
The annual folk festival is the highlight of the calendar of events. The festival runs over four days (Friday to Monday). The former flower parade always took place on Sunday and Monday. The local clubs built wagons that process over 200,000 dahlias. However, since there were delivery bottlenecks for dahlias due to the drought, the flower parade has been canceled since 2011.

After three bronze medals, Muggensturm finally succeeded in 2010: the community was awarded a gold medal for local development.
Local beautification competition of the district of Rastatt "Our village has a future"
In 2011, Muggensturm took first place for the fifth time in a row at the local beautification competition in the Rastatt district.
Arthur Prize
In 2006, the Muggensturm community achieved fourth place in the competition “The best public authorities in Germany”. - The Rot-Weiss Muggensturm tennis club was founded on February 20, 1974. The tennis facility is located on the southeastern edge of Muggensturm. There is also a managed clubhouse and a mini golf course. The association has around 320 members.
- The 1918 Muggensturm football club is the only football club in Muggensturm. The club area with a hosted clubhouse, two grass pitches and a hard court is located at Wilhelmstrasse 36. The football club has approx. 550 members. He organizes an annual sports festival with games by the youth / senior and women's teams of the club. The sports festival lasts from Friday to Monday. Furthermore, a team from the Open Life Aid Rastatt / Murgtal is affiliated with the association as a separate department.
- The local gymnastics club is TV Muggensturm 1892. In addition to gymnastics, TV Muggensturm also has a handball, fistball and cycling department.
- The Muggensturm shooting club was founded in 1919 and has around 150 members.
- The Muggensturm table tennis club was founded in 1975. It has 178 members with five men's, one women's and six youth teams. Training and point games are held in the gym of the Albert Schweitzer School.
- The workers choral society Harmonie from 1900 was banned by the National Socialists in 1938 due to its proximity to social democracy and the trade unions. In 1951 it was re-established. Today the choir is active as a mixed choir and cultivates both classical choral literature and modern movements.
- The model flying club MFC-Wren was founded in 1990 and operates its own model airfield.

Muggensturm is located on the B 3 and east of the Rhine Valley Railway ( Mannheim - Basel ) and has two stops there, Muggensturm, which is half hourly, and Muggensturm Badesee, which is served every hour by the S71 and S81 (Rastatt-Odenheim).

One of the largest rooftop photovoltaic systems is operated on the flat roofs of the logistics company Hartmann AG in Muggensturm . Over 20,900 solar modules from Sharp have been installed on an area of around 80,000 square meters . The system supplier was Conergy AG , the peak output of the system is 3.84 megawatts. Commissioning took place in June and December 2006. According to estimates by the operator, the plant generates around 3.5 million kilowatt hours of electrical energy annually. This corresponds to the needs of over 3,600 people or 900 four-person households. The area covered with modules is as large as 16 soccer fields. Eight inverters from SMA are housed in a two-storey concrete station with a height of 6.8 m and a weight of over 50 tons next to the buildings and convert the solar direct current into alternating current so that it can be networked . The costs of this large solar power plant amounted to almost EUR 17 million.
