On June 14, 2016, FC Luzern AG announced that it would equip the Swissporarena with a photovoltaic system on the roof. The assembly was completed in mid-September 2016. The facility covers a total area of 6,862 square meters . The system is to deliver 900,000 kilowatt hours of electricity , which corresponds to the annual consumption of 200 households or 900 people.
