The Estadi Nacional (full name: Estadi Nacional d'Andorra ) is a rugby and football stadium in the Andorran capital Andorra la Vella . It is the national stadium of the dwarf state in the eastern Pyrenees . The facility is the home ground of the Andorran national football team and the Andorran national rugby union team . The multi-purpose hall Poliesportiu d'Andorra is located on the west stand .

history

Work on the stadium began in 2013 on the site of the old Campo d'Esports del MI Consell General . The completion could be celebrated in the following year. The facility offers 3,306 seats on three tiers and the playing field has an artificial turf surface . The main grandstand in the west is covered. The two rear stands in the north and south are in the open air. The stadium is demarcated by a fence on the east side. A striking feature of the stadium is the floodlight system with its four masts.

The first official game took place on September 9, 2014 against the Welsh national football team (1: 2) in qualifying for the 2016 European Football Championship . First of all, the installed 3G artificial turf was rejected, after an inspection by UEFA the artificial green passed the test and the game took place.

On October 7, 2017, the Andorran national soccer team met the reigning European champions Portugal (0: 2) in qualifying for the 2018 World Cup . The Estadi Nacional was almost sold out with 3,193 spectators.
