Laugardalsvöllur is the national stadium of Iceland . It is located in the Laugardalur district of Reykjavík and has a capacity of 15,000 spectators. The main stand was built in 1958 and the opposite stand was built in 1997. In 2006 the main stand was renovated and enlarged so that the stadium reached its current capacity. Two more grandstands with a total capacity of 3,000 seats can be built for important games. The stadium is mainly used for football matches, but it also has a running track , so that athletics events can also take place here.

In the normal league operation of the Icelandic Pepsideild , the stadium is the home of the football club Fram Reykjavík .

The attendance record is 20,204 visitors; this was set up in 2004 at a friendly game between Iceland and Italy , which the Icelanders surprisingly won 2-0.
