The Yeni 4 Eylül Stadyumu (also Yeni 4 Eylül Stadı , German New Stadium of September 4th ) is a football stadium in the Turkish city of Sivas , capital of the province of the same name , in Central Anatolia . The new football arena replaced the Sivas 4 Eylül Stadı, completed in 1984, as the home of the Sivasspor football club . The owner is the Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı ( German Ministry for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey ). The name of the stadium refers to September 4, 1919, when the Sivas Congress was held during the Turkish War of Liberation .
history
While the old Sivas 4 Eylül Stadı is located southwest of the city center, the new building was erected about two kilometers further on the outskirts in the southwest. The stadium and the adjacent parking area were built on 130,000 m² . The earthworks began with the groundbreaking on May 25, 2013. As with many newly built soccer stadiums in Turkey, the design comes from the architectural office Bahadır Kul Architects. The client was Toplu Konut İdaresi Başkanlığı (TOKİ, German State Housing Authority ). It was important to consider the climatic conditions in Sivas in the design and construction. It's cold, dry and windy there. Therefore, the north side was clad with a closed, double-walled facade against the cold north wind. The space in between was provided with an air cushion for insulation . In the summer months, perforated areas in the area can be opened to control the ventilation and the temperature in the stadium to a certain extent. The east and west sides were provided with large glazing . The solar radiation and the heat generated save heating costs. Photovoltaic modules were installed on the southern side of the arena roof . They should produce 798 KW of clean energy per day , which corresponds to the consumption of 160 houses. Rainwater and snow are collected on the roof and used in the stadium. Also, gray water use. The sports facility offers 27,532 seats in the tiers, which are designed in the club colors red and white. Above the upper tier there is still space for an extension, but the changed roof construction means there are roof supports there. The stadium has a total area of 58,700 m², which extends over five floors , four above ground and one underground. When the contract was signed, the construction costs were TRY 82 million . The time span of 800 days set for the construction was exceeded by over 1100 days. Sivasspor inaugurated the new home ground on August 14, 2016 with a game against Tokatspor (3-1).
