The Yeni Malatya Stadyumu is a football stadium in the Turkish city of Malatya in eastern Anatolia . It replaced the Malatya İnönü Stadyumu , which opened in 1970 and was demolished in 2018. The new building on the eastern outskirts is opposite İnönü Üniversitesi on the D 300 expressway. The owner is Türkiye Cumhuriyeti Gençlik ve Spor Bakanlığı ( German  Ministry for Youth and Sports of the Republic of Turkey ). In its stands it has space for 25,745 spectators.

history

The first plans for a new stadium were made in 2007, but not much happened until 2011. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 12, 2012. It took until 2013 for the work to actually begin. The construction should initially cost TRY 60 million . The Malatya province is the world's largest apricot growing area . The architects incorporated this into the design. The facade cladding in two layers is kept in the colors white and orange . The white shell encloses the orange shell that opens in the south. Azaksu Mimarlik's original design has been changed several times, but the main elements have been retained. These include the light steel roof structure weighing 2800 tons. It not only covers the stands, but also the aisles around the stadium. The natural slope of the property was also used. On the northern side, two floors were created on the ground floor. This enabled the construction of 271 covered parking spaces. A further 981 seats are available around the venue. Furthermore, the Yeni Malatya Stadyumu has 26 private boxes (13 each in the longitudinal stands in the east and west), two shops and 24 snack stands . The work should be completed in 2015. But this prevented u. a. the bankruptcy of the general contractor in 2015. After that, a new company had to be found. Construction was completed in the summer of 2017 and opened by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan . The initial cost of 60 million TRY increased to 75 million TRY in the course of construction. The Toplu Konut İdaresi Başkanlığı (TOKİ, German  State Housing Authority ) gave a final price of 119 million TRY. By the end of 2017, the city of Malatya had to invest another TRY 10 million to resolve difficulties and adapt the stadium to the requirements.
