The Gaziantep Stadyumu is a football stadium in the Turkish city of Gaziantep , capital of the province of the same name . The former football club Gaziantepspor from the Süper Lig used the stadium as their home ground until it was closed in 2017. Today the Gaziantep FK is based in the stadium. The new facility replaces the Kâmil Ocak Stadı opened in 1974 .
history
The Kâmil Ocak Stadı has not met modern requirements for a long time, and renovations could not change this condition. However, it took until 2012 before a final concept for the new building was in place. The architectural office Bahadir Kul Architects contributed the design for the venue. The new building was 96 million TRY (24.3 million euro cost) and 36,000 seats obtained with the possibility of expansion to 43,000 seats. Preparatory work began in May 2013, and construction of the new venue began in August of that year. The building site , about six kilometers north of the city center, was previously an arable land . The D 850 expressway and the O-52 motorway , which can take visitors to and from the stadium, run nearby to the east . The building was built one stand by one. From the west, south and east the rank in the north was completed last. The roof was also completed at the end of 2015. The interior work was completed by the end of 2016 with the installation and furnishing work, so it was not possible to open before January 2017.
The Gaziantep Stadyumu offers space for 35,574 spectators in the four two-story and covered stands. In addition to the club colors red and black, the seating is white. On the longitudinal stands in the west and east there are 27 boxes each. There are 100 wheelchair-accessible spaces plus 100 more for their companions around the stadium. The stadium has an area of 158,000 m 2 and has 1,363 parking spaces in the vicinity. The stadium facade was u. a. clad with panels made of composite material and membrane strips in the club colors on a geometric skeleton structure . A special feature is the color change when you walk past the facade.
On January 15, 2017, Gaziantepspor's new home ground was inaugurated with the league game against Antalyaspor (0: 3). The opening was not a lucky star. Since the Syrian city of Aleppo is only 85 kilometers to the south, security measures have been tightened. In the run-up to the game, 12,000 tickets were reportedly distributed. The defeat of the home team attracted 9,417 spectators and only filled the Gaziantep Stadyumu to a quarter. Gaziantepspor slipped to the bottom of the table. The stadium was supposed to be inaugurated the year before and the set budget was exceeded at TRY 120 million (EUR 30.36 million).
