The Şenol Güneş Spor Kompleksi Medical Park Stadyumu (short: Medical Park Stadyumu ) is a football stadium in the city of Akyazı in the Turkish province of Trabzon on the Black Sea coast . The football club Trabzonspor from the Süper Lig uses the arena as their home stadium. The new venue replaces the Hüseyin Avni Aker Stadı from 1951.

history

In 2011, they began on the west coast of Trabzon with the Landaufschüttung . An area of 795,000 square meters of land was reclaimed. The largest sports and leisure complex in the region called Trabzon Akyazı Spor ve Kültür Kompleksi will be built on the artificially created land mass . The stadium is the focus of the project and will have a floor area of 134,915 square meters. The total area of the stadium premises is given as 418,089 square meters. To the east of the football stadium, a training and youth center with five training grounds and other sports facilities will be built. The office and business area will be built in the western part. A new urban beach and a marina will be built along the coastline .

The stadium design comes from the pen of 'asp' Architects Stuttgart, who are also responsible for the Türk Telekom Arena in Istanbul . The design proposal led to discussions, as the architectural office had previously applied for the Coface Arena in Mainz with the same design . The most striking feature of the new AKYAZI STADI is provided with a translucent PTFE - membrane spanned roof and facade structure on a steel frame, which can also be illuminated.

On November 24, 2013, the then Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan officially laid the foundation stone in the presence of several thousand people .

After three years of construction, the soccer arena was close to completion in November 2016. The new building was opened on December 18, 2016. After President Erdoğan had cut the symbolic ribbon and kicked off, two traditional Trabzonspor teams from the 1980s and 1990s played against each other. The 1990s team won 7-3. On January 29, 2017, the Medical Park hospital chain became the stadium's name sponsor. The contract runs for five years and brings the club 25 million US dollars . Officially, the full name is Şenol Güneş Spor Kompleksi Medical Park Arena . The first official game Trabzonspor won against Gaziantepspor 4-0.

Furnishing

The Medical Park Stadyumu has a total of 41,461 seats on its circumferential double-storey tiers. This includes 37,915 normal seats, 2,954 VIP seats and 196 seats in the grandstand. The 122 VIP boxes are to be accommodated on the upper tier of the main stand . There will also be two VIP clubs and one premium VIP club. The main stand and the back straight should be ten meters from the touchline. Behind the goals, the distance between the spectator stands should be 8.5 meters. The playing field will be equipped with underfloor heating .

There will also be four prayer rooms , 28 office rooms, three conference rooms , seven fan shops , four lounges and six restaurants and cafes in the stadium . A room with 190 seats is planned for press conferences. Of the 159 toilets in the stadium, 101 are for men and 40 are for women. There will also be 18 handicapped accessible toilets. 49 stairs and 15 elevators will be distributed throughout the stadium . 438 parking spaces are planned under the stadium.
