The venue with 32,539 seats is the sporting home of the Antalyaspor football club , which was promoted to the highest Turkish league, the Süper Lig , in the 2015/16 season . Previously, the club temporarily played its games in Akdeniz Üniversitesi Stadı, which was inaugurated in 2012 . It is only around 1.5 kilometers west of the arena, has 7,083 seats and an athletics facility . Before 2012, Antalyaspor was based in Antalya Ataturk Stadı from 1965.

history

After years of planning and announcements, construction began in June 2013. In the planning phase, the construction project was named Antalya 100.yıl Stadyumu ( German  Antalya Century Stadium ), in memory of the founding of Turkey in 1923 by Ataturk . It was estimated that it would take 800 days to build, but it actually took 992 days to build. The construction costs also exceeded the initially targeted TRY 80 million to around TRY 100 million. The opening took place on October 26th, 2015 with the league game between Antalyaspor and Beşiktaş Istanbul . The game of day 9 ended with a clear 1: 5 defeat for the new home side. The game was followed by 19,691 spectators. The first goal in the stadium was scored by Necip Uysal for Beşiktaş.

The tiers of the football stadium are completely covered by a 16,000 m² roof. The roof is supported by a slender steel structure. A translucent material was used on the inner edge of the roof to provide the pitch with more daylight. The venue was the first Turkish stadium to have a photovoltaic system . The solar system covers 75 percent of the roof and converts solar radiation into 7,200 kWh of electricity every day . This is enough to supply 550 households with energy. The main and opposite stands each have three tiers. The rear grandstands have a lower tier like the longitudinal grandstands. Above that, three space-saving tiers with only five to six rows of seats were laid out like balconies. This is due to the rectangular arrangement of the stands in the circular stadium.

Diagonally opposite video walls were installed under the roof in two corners of the stadium . The seating as well as other parts of the stadium are kept in the club colors red and white. The 44 VIP - boxes are located at the level of the middle rank of the two side stands. The sports facility offers 87,000 m² of floor space . 8,000 m² of this is commercial space . There are also 1,200 parking spaces available. The stadium is controlled with a video surveillance system. The entrances and exits are monitored by cameras including face recognition .
