The San Marino Stadium (1969–1985: Stadio di Serravalle , 1985–2014: Stadio Olimpico ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in Serravalle , San Marino . It is the largest stadium in the country and the only venue that meets the requirements of UEFA and FIFA .

history

The San Marino Stadium opened in 1969 and has a capacity of approximately 7,000 spectators. The San Marino national soccer team plays all of its games here. The women , the U-21 men , the U-19 and the U-17 juniors also use the stadium. It is also the venue for the San Marino Calcio football clubs from the Lega Pro Seconda Divisione and SC Faetano and AC Juvenes / Dogana from the Campionato Sammarinese di Calcio . The Museo dello Sport e dell'Olimpismo has been located in the main stand since 2006 .

On June 19, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI celebrated a Eucharistic concelebration in the stadium as part of his one-day pastoral visit to the Republic of San Marino.

On September 2, 2014, the name was changed to San Marino Stadium.

The San Marino Stadium was one of six venues for the U-21 European Football Championship 2019 in Italy and San Marino. The facility has had a hybrid lawn since 2009 . For the tournament, the playing field made of artificial and natural grass was renewed.
