As a result, he was in the winter break of the season 2008/09 for the Italian club Palermo be hired to gather match practice. However, the transfer failed at the last minute. A week later he scored the 1-0 winner in the home game against Karlsruher SC , his first Bundesliga goal for Munich. His last goal so far came on May 9, 2009 (31st matchday) in a 3-1 away win in Cottbus .

In the summer of 2016 there were several controversies between Sosa and his club in Beşiktaş. Despite the beginning of the preparation phase for the next season, Sosa stayed away from the training camp without excuse. After threats from Beşiktaş ', he took part in team training, but was noticed in the training camp due to indiscipline and lack of commitment. So he was suspended from the team squad by coach Şenol Güneş . Behind the scenes, Sosa tried to sell to the Italian first division club AC Milan . The club's management countered this by saying that it would only be sold on good terms. After several weeks of negotiations and controversy, Sosa moved to AC Milan in mid-August 2016. In the summer of 2017 he was loaned to the Turkish club Trabzonspor and then permanently committed to a € 3.4 million transfer fee until 2020 during the winter break.

After the end of his contract with Trabzonspor and no agreement on a contract extension, Sosa moved to league rivals Fenerbahçe Istanbul in August 2020 for the 2020/21 season .
