Oğuzhan Özyakup (born September 23, 1992 in Zaandam ) is a Turkish - Dutch football player . He has been under contract with Beşiktaş Istanbul since 2012 and has been on loan at Feyenoord Rotterdam since January 2020 . He also played for the Dutch youth national teams and has been a selection player in Turkey since 2012 after changing associations.
Career
society
Özyakup started playing football in the Netherlands at Türkspor Zaandam. There he was noticed by officials from AZ Alkmaar and in 2007 he switched to the club's junior academy. At the age of 15 he went to England for Arsenal FC . The midfielder played two games in the 2011/12 League Cup for Arsenal ; in the Premier League he was not used.
In summer 2012 he moved to Beşiktaş Istanbul in Turkey . Özyakup ended the first three seasons with the Istanbul team in third place in the league. With the club he became Turkish champions in 2016 and 2017 . Since his move to Beşiktaş Özyakup was represented in every season with the club in the European Cup; In the 2017/18 season he reached the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League with the team , in which they were eliminated by Bayern Munich . Seven and a half years later - in January 2020 - Oguzhan Özyakup returned to the Netherlands on loan and joined Feyenoord Rotterdam .
National teams
Özyakup played for the Dutch U17 and U19 teams from 2008 to 2012 .
From August 2012, the son of Turkish parents played seven times for the Turkish U21 team ; he made his debut for the Turkish national team in May 2013. In the qualifying game for the Euro 2016 on September 6, 2015 against the Netherlands , Özyakup marked the 700th goal of the Turkish national team. At the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , he was included in the Turkish squad and played in all three group stage games until the team was eliminated.
