Rick Karsdorp (born February 11, 1995 in Schoonhoven , today municipality of Krimpenerwaard ) is a Dutch football player . The defender is under contract with AS Roma in Italy and was a Dutch international.
Career
society
Karsdorp played for his hometown club VV Schoonhoven in the small town of the same name in South Holland until he was nine years old , before moving to the youth department of Feyenoord Rotterdam . For the club's A-youth, he played as a winger and in midfield, and with her he became the junior champion and cup winner in spring 2014. Subsequently, Karsdorp moved up to the first men's team and was transferred to the right defensive flank. His debut in the Eredivisie took place on August 24, 2014 at the age of 19 in a 2-1 defeat at home to FC Utrecht . Karsdorp played with Feyenoord in addition to the domestic competitions for the first time in the European Cup and was also on the field for the reserve. In the 2015/16 season he was a regular in the Feyenoords defensive network, only missed five competitive games and won the KNVB Cup with the team . Between summer 2016 and spring 2017, Karsdorp, who was still on the right wing, was consistently 1st in the domestic league with Rotterdam, which in the end meant winning his first national title in the men's area. Only the pursuers Ajax and PSV had to accept fewer goals.
In the summer of 2017, he switched to the Italian Serie A to the reigning runner-up AS Roma , the transfer fee is said to have been 16 million euros. Due to a ruptured cruciate ligament, the Dutchman was only able to play for the club once in his first season. After his recovery, Karsdorp could not prevail against right- backs Davide Santon and captain Alessandro Florenzi and remained a substitute player. As a result, he returned to Feyenoord on loan in summer 2019, where a groin injury slowed him down. Until the season was prematurely broken off due to the COVID-19 pandemic , Karsdorp played 24 games for his old club and was able to contribute two goals and five assists. The game was resumed in Italy, but the defender was no longer eligible to play until the end of the season, when Roma qualified for the group stage of the Europa League in fifth .
National team
On October 7, 2016, Karsdorp played his first international match for the Dutch senior team . He previously played for various Dutch junior national teams.
