history

Fans of Volyn Lutsk

The Wolyn Lutsk football club was founded in 1960. Initially, until 1967, as it is today, the club was called Volyn Lutsk . After that, the name was changed to Torpedo Lutsk , as the club was called until 1988. After 1988 the club name was again Volyn Lutsk , but with small deviations from the current name, which has been in effect again since 2002. In 1992, Volyn Lutsk was one of the founding members of the Ukrainian Premjer-Liha , which then experienced its first season after Ukraine gained independence from the collapse of the Soviet Union . In the first season, the club from Lutsk finished fifth in the season B. In the following years, the club, which had not played a major role in professional football in Soviet times, could not confirm this very good placement and it was relegated to the in 1996 Perscha Liha , the second highest division in Ukraine. After six years in the second division Wolyn Lutsk succeeded with first place in the 2001/02 season of promotion to the Premjer-Liha. The following year, the club reached the semi-finals of the Ukrainian Cup . The team was able to repeat this success in the 2009/10 season. In league operations, Volyn Lutsk rose again in the 2009/10 season to the Premjer-Liha, after the team had to go into the second division four years earlier in 2006.

Three foreign professionals left the club shortly before the start of the 2014/15 season, apparently out of fear of the consequences of the Ukraine crisis. According to the ITAR-TASS agency, these were Eric Bicfalvi (Romania), Ramon Lopes (Brazil) and Michel Babatunde (Nigeria). Due to the failure of the three players, Volyn Lutzk now has to fight relegation.
