Anatoly Olexandrowytsch Tymoschtschuk ( Ukrainian Анатолій Олександрович Тимощук ., Scientific transliteration Anatoly Tymoščuk , FIFA spelling of English transcription. Anatoliy Tymoshchuk * thirtieth March 1979 in Lutsk , Ukrainian SSR , Soviet Union ) is a retired Ukrainian footballer , the first after his pro station at his home club Wolyn Lutsk , nine years with Shakhtar Donetsk under contract. Before moving to FC Bayern Munich in 2009, he played for Zenit Saint Petersburg for two years . There he won the Europa League in 2008 and in 2013 he won the Champions League with FC Bayern .

With 144 international matches , he is the record national player in his country, for which he played for 16 years and was team captain. He was three times Footballer of the Year in Ukraine .

Tymoschtschuk has been Sergei Semak's assistant trainer at the Russian first division club Zenit Saint Petersburg since March 2016 .

As a player

Beginnings in Ukraine

Tymoschtschuk attended the youth sports school Lutsk and played for the sports boarding team Kiev in his youth. He moved to Wolyn Lutsk at the age of 16 , where he received his first professional appearances. In March 1998 Shakhtar Donetsk signed the Ukrainian. After nine years, he left the club in late February 2007. During that time, he received two awards and won six titles.

Moved to Zenit St. Petersburg

For the transfer fee of 15.1 million euros - the highest that had been paid by a club from the successor states of the Soviet Union - Tymoschtschuk moved to Russia to Zenit Saint Petersburg and signed a four-year contract on February 28, 2007. With his club he won two titles: At the end of the season (November 11, 2007) he won the Russian championship - the first in 23 years for the club - and on 14 May 2008 the finals at the UEFA Cup with 2: 0 against the Glasgow Rangers .

Tymoschtschuk, the German already partially understood and said, moved to season 2009/10 for FC Bayern Munich . He signed a contract for three years until 2012. Bayern only finished second in the league and cup in the 2011/12 season. In the 2011/12 season he was used in eleven Champions League games. In the final against Chelsea he was on the field for the full 120 minutes and witnessed the defeat on penalties. After the season he extended his contract with the record champions for another year.

In early May 2013, Tymoschtschuk confirmed that he would leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season. In his last season at Bayern, he won the triple of the UEFA Champions League , German championship and DFB Cup.

Across all competitions, Tymoschtschuk played 118 games for Bayern, in which he scored 6 goals.

Return to Zenit St. Petersburg

During the 2013 summer break, Tymoschtschuk returned to his former club Zenit St. Petersburg . In 2015 he won his second Russian championship there .

FK Qairat Almaty

The Kazakh first division club FK Qairat Almaty signed him for the current 2015 season and the coming 2016 season and provided him with a contract with a term of 18 months. He made his debut on July 12, 2015 in a 1-0 home win against Qaisar Qysylorda over 90 minutes. With the goal to 3-0 against FK Aqtöbe on April 23, 2016 Tymoschtschuk scored his first and only competitive goal for FK Qairat. National team

Tymoschtschuk made his debut for the senior national team of his country in 2000 and was successful for the first time as a goalscorer in his over 100 internationals on February 17, 2004 in the test international match against Georgia with the 2-1 winner in the 90th minute. As a regular player, he was appointed to the 23-man squad for the 2006 World Cup in Germany by Ukrainian national coach Oleh Blochin . In this tournament he advanced with the team to the quarter-finals , which were lost 3-0 to Italy .

On October 11, 2010, he made his 100th international match in the 2-0 draw against Brazil , drawing level with the record international Andrij Shevchenko . At the 2012 European Football Championship in his own country, he represented Ukraine in all three preliminary round matches over the full season.

When qualifying for the European Football Championship in France in 2016 , Tymoschtschuk was still used regularly in the first half. In 2015, however, he mostly stayed on the bench and in the decisive relegation game against Slovenia he was only substituted on at the last minute. Nevertheless, at the age of 37, he was accepted as the oldest player in his country and as captain in Ukraine 's EM squad . In the 90th minute of the third game against Poland, when the tournament from Ukraine was already determined, he got one last European Championship appearance, which was also his last in the national team.

As a trainer

Tymoschtschuk has been an assistant coach at his former club Zenit St. Petersburg since March 2016 . There he won the Russian Cup and the Russian Super Cup in 2015/16. In the 2016/17 season, Zenit was able to defend the Super Cup as the reigning cup winner with a 1-0 win over CSKA Moscow, the champions of the 2015/16 season.
