He made his debut for this club on January 27, 2010 in a qualifier for the Copa Libertadores 2010 with the Newell's Old Boys , which ended goalless. He celebrated his greatest successes with the Azules in 2013 when he won the Ecuadorian football championship with Emelec and was the most successful scorer in the 2013 Copa Sudamericana with five goals .

Change abroad

In December 2013 he moved to CF Pachuca and with a total of 18 goals, from league and playoff goals, was the top scorer of the Mexican league straight away in the 2014 Clausura . After strong performances in the Mexican league and at the 2014 World Cup, he also attracted attention in Europe.

After the 2014 World Cup, he was signed by the English club West Ham United . The Hammers equipped the striker with a five-year contract and transferred a transfer fee of around 15 million euros to Pachuca. Valencia made their debut on August 16, 2014 in a 1-0 home loss to Tottenham Hotspur when he came on for Carlton Cole in the 81st minute . He scored his first goal on September 15, 2014 in a 2-2 draw against Hull City .

At the end of the transfer period in the summer of 2016, the player was loaned to Everton FC by West Ham United for the 2016/2017 season. With the loan, the Toffees received an option to buy at the end of the season.

In June 2017, Valencia moved back to Mexico to UANL Tigres . In the 2019 season, UANL Tigres reached the final of the CONCACAF Champions League , thanks to his high- scoring support with seven goals scored in eight appearances. So he became the tournament's top scorer .

In August 2020, Valencia switched to Turkish first division club Fenerbahçe Istanbul for the 2020/21 season , where they signed a three-year contract.
