Carlton Michael Cole Okirie (born November 12, 1983 in Croydon ) is an English football player .

Athletic career

Coming from the youth of Chelsea , he made his professional debut on April 6, 2002 in the English Premier League against Everton . From November 2002 to January 2003 he was loaned to Wolverhampton Wanderers for five weeks , played five games and went back to Chelsea by the end of the season. At the beginning of the 2003/04 season he played a game for Chelsea and was loaned to Charlton Athletic from August for the remainder of the season . He scored four goals in 21 games. In 2004/05 he was awarded again, this time to Aston Villa . For Villa he played 27 games and scored three goals.

He returned to Chelsea in the summer of 2005. Due to the strong competition in the storm, he did not have a regular place, but ran five times in the first half of 2005/06. In July 2006, he moved to West Ham United for a non-quantified transfer fee .

After the 2012/13 season , Cole's contract was not renewed and he left the club. On October 14, 2014, however, he returned to the club. He signed a contract until mid-January 2014. After Cole scored four goals in 14 league games, his contract was extended to June 30, 2015. The expiring contract was not extended at the end of the 2014/15 season. After he had remained without a contract until October 2015, the Scottish champions Celtic Glasgow signed him . For Celtic, Cole made his debut on matchday 16 of the 2015/16 season against Inverness Caledonian Thistle when he was substituted on for Tom Rogić . He scored his first goal in January 2016 in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup against third division club FC Stranraer . After just one season and only four league games completed, Cole left the club again.

English national team

Carlton Cole played a total of 19 times in the English U21 selection and scored six goals. On February 11, 2009 he made his debut under coach Fabio Capello as a substitute against Spain (0-2) for the senior national team of his country .
