Erol Bulut (born January 30, 1975 in Bad Schwalbach ) is a German-Turkish soccer coach and former soccer player who currently coaches the Turkish first division club Fenerbahçe Istanbul .

Club player career

Erol Bulut played in various German football clubs during his youth. In 1995 he moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe Istanbul . There the defender was able to celebrate winning the Turkish championship in his first professional season. In 1999 he returned to Frankfurt, but was awarded again to Turkey for most of the time. Until 2001 Bulut played there at Trabzonspor and under coach Joachim Loew at Adanaspor . This was followed by a stopover at the Greek club Panionios Athens , where he was named the best foreign player in the league. In 2003 he returned to Turkey with his contract with Bursaspor . After one season he moved to the first division relegated TSV 1860 Munich to Germany, but missed promotion with his team in the end. In 2005, the left defender moved to the Greek record champions Olympiacos Piraeus for two years . In the first year Erol Bulut was able to win the championship with his new club. Together with world stars like Rivaldo and Yaya Touré , he also played in the UEFA Champions League at Olympiakos and won the Greek Cup in 2006. Before the end of his second season, however, his contract was terminated. After trial training sessions at various European clubs, the Turk then switched to the Ukrainian representative Metalurh Donetsk in 2007 and played there until 2008. From the 2008 season, Erol Bulut worked for the Greek second division Olympiakos Volos , before joining the league in January 2011 after six months without a club OFI Crete , with whom he made promotion to the Super League in summer 2011 . After half a year in the first class, he moved to the second division Veria FC , with whom he again made promotion in the summer of 2012.

Coaching career

Bulut began his coaching career in October 2012 with an assistant coaching position at Kartalspor . He then worked in the same function at the clubs Yeni Malatyaspor , Elazığspor and Istanbul Başakşehir FK .

In September 2017 he was hired as head coach at first division club Yeni Malatyaspor and worked in this position for the first time. This climber and historic 70th newcomer to the Süper Lig , the highest Turkish league fund, Bulut led to relegation at the end of the season with ten points ahead of relegation places . In the following season ( 2018/19 ) he led the East Anatolians to the semi-finals of the Turkish Cup and was eliminated from the eventual (record) cup winners. Towards the end of April 2019, he surprisingly resigned five game days before the end of the season after a meeting with the club's board. Although he had achieved important successes in the club's history.

For the season 2019/20 he took over the Turkish first division club Alanyaspor and led this Südanatolier for best Süper Lig placing their history to the fifth place and the Turkish Cup final . With these successes, Bulut ensured that the southern Anatolians could qualify for the qualifying round of the Europa League for the first time .

In the next season ( 2020/21 ) the German-Turk returned to his first professional player position at the Turkish first division club Fenerbahçe, but as head coach.
