Murat Sağlam (born April 10, 1998 in Hameln , Germany ) is a Turkish football player who has been under contract with Fenerbahçe Istanbul since June 2019 .

Career

Sağlam, the son of Turkish parents, was born in Hameln, Lower Saxony , in 1998 . Where he began with club football, after a test training at the age of six in the youth of ESV Eintracht Hameln. He played for his first youth club for seven years and moved via Preußen Hameln , HSC BW Tündern and after five to six trial training sessions at VfL Wolfsburg to the Wolves' youth department . Until 2017 he passed through the B and A juniors of Wolfsburg. In the 2015/16 season he made his club European Cup debut in the UEFA Youth League . In the 2016/17 season, Sağlam helped win the North / Northeast relay championship of the A-Junior Bundesliga in 23 A-Junior league appearances with four goals and ten goal preparations . In 2017 he was promoted to Wolfsburg's second team (VfL Wolfsburg II or VfL Wolfsburg U23) and developed into an important football player for the team. Sağlam took part with the team in the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons in the international U23 soccer competition of the Premier League International Cup . In his last season (2018/19) for the second team of VfL Wolfsburg, he contributed six goals and four assists to the successful Regionalliga-Nord championship in 25 regional league appearances.

After his contract with Wolfsburg had expired, Sağlam was initially supposed to move to the Black Sea-Turkish club Trabzonspor in June 2019 , where both parties could not agree on a collaboration. Instead, the then Turkish U21 international signed a three-year contract with the Turkish first division club Fenerbahçe Istanbul in mid-June 2019 with an option for another season. In October 2019 Sağlam made his competitive debut for the professional team of the yellow-dark blue in the Turkish Cup competition and later in July 2020, at the age of 22, he also made his league professional debut in the top Turkish league division of the Süper Lig in a 2-1 win against Göztepe Izmir .

National team

Sağlam started his national team career in November 2015 with two games for the U18 juniors in Turkey and between 2015 and 2019 he played in the Turkish youth national teams from U18 to U19 and the U21 .
