The HSC BW Tündern (officially: HSC Blau-Weiss "Schwalbe" von 1928 Tündern eV ) is a sports club from the Hameln district of Tündern . The men's soccer team was promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga in 2019 .

history

The club was founded in 1928 as SC Schwalbe Tündern and two years later merged with local rivals Concordia, founded in 1911, to form TSV Schwalbe Tündern . In 1953, SC Schwalbe Tündern split off again and then in 1974 took on the name SC Blau-Weiss Schwalbe Tündern . In 1999 this merged with Hamelner SC and took on its current name. In addition to soccer, the HSC BW Tündern also offers table tennis .

For decades, footballers only competed at the district level before they were promoted to the district class in 1980. Seven years later, they were promoted to the district league, from which the team had to relegate in 1991. Two years later, the second promotion succeeded in the district league, before it went back down in 1998 in the district class. The third promotion to the district league succeeded in 2000. First, the HSC was runner-up in the district class behind SV Nienstädt 09 and then prevailed in the decider for promotion on penalties against FC Ambergau-Volkersheim . After only one year, the direct relegation followed.

In 2002 and 2003 Tündern had chances to rise again when the team was runner-up in the district class in 2002 and 2003 behind SV Degersen and TSV Deinsen . The playoffs were lost in 2002 against Eintracht Afferde with 0: 3 and in 2003 against Union Stadthagen on penalties. It was not until 2005 that he returned to the district league as champions, which was followed two years later by promotion to the Hanover regional league , which was held until 2010. A year later, the direct return to the division, which has now been renamed Landesliga Hannover .

In 2019 he was finally promoted to the Lower Saxony Oberliga. Although the team finished bottom of the table in the following 2019/20 season , they remained in the top division as relegation was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
