Christopher Buchtmann (born April 25, 1992 in Minden ) is a German soccer player . He is mainly used as a defensive midfielder.

career

In the club

Buchtmann moved from Hannover 96 to Borussia Dortmund at the age of 13 . There he played two and a half years up to the B youth , but then decided to move to England for Liverpool in summer 2008 . Thereupon he was sent home by Borussia in January 2008, as no players were trained for other clubs. He then played for half a year at his home club HSC Blau-Weiß Schwalbe Tündern in the A-youth , for which he was actually two years too young. At the beginning of his first season for Liverpool's juniors, he was out due to injury, but was then a regular, but in the position of left defender, although he had previously been used mostly in attacking midfield. In April 2009 he finally got a professional contract there. He played one game for the reserve team in the Premier Reserve League before moving to league rivals Fulham FC in February 2010 , for whom he played nine times for the reserve team and scored two goals. In summer 2010 he moved back to Germany and signed a three-year contract with Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln . There, however, he was primarily used in the second team. On April 28, 2012, the 33rd matchday of the 2011/12 season , Buchtmann came in the away game against SC Freiburg (1: 4) for his first Bundesliga appearance when he came on in the 68th minute for Sławomir Peszko .

In preparation for the 2012/13 season , Buchtmann was eliminated from the professional squad by coach Holger Stanislawski and transferred to the second team.

At the end of August 2012, Buchtmann moved within the league for free to FC St. Pauli . He signed a one-year contract with the club from Hamburg until June 30, 2013 with the option of a further season. The contract was extended early until 2015. At the end of January 2014, this contract was again prematurely extended to the end of June 2016. Buchtmann was able to establish himself in the starting line-up in the 2013/14 season . During the 2016/17 season, Buchtmann tore his knee ligament and had to take a break for over a month. In the 2015/16 season, Buchtmann was out for almost two months due to a torn knee ligament. During the second division season 2017/18, Buchtmann tore his ankle ligaments and had to take a break for almost a month. Around a month after his comeback, he suffered a pubic bone inflammation and has since been out for an indefinite period.

In the national team

Buchtmann played for all youth teams of the German Football Association since the U-15 . He was the captain of the U-17 team, which became European champions in 2009 .
