Career

societies

Knoll initially played for several youth teams from Berlin-Spandau , before moving to Hertha BSC's youth department in July 2004 . In April 2007 he won the soccer world championship held in Chile with the Poelchau-Oberschule , scoring a goal in the 2-1 victory in the final against the selection of South Africa . The winning selection of students included Knoll's Herthan team- mates Alfredo Morales , Fanol Perdedaj and Kevin Stephan .

In August 2008 Knoll played his first regional league game for Hertha BSC's second team. In preparation for the 2010/11 season , he traveled to the summer training camp with the professionals for the first time, but was unable to play in the squad there. Nevertheless, Knoll made his debut on December 5, 2010 (15th matchday) for the Hertha professional team in the 2nd Bundesliga when he was substituted on for Alfredo Morales in the 0-1 away defeat at TSV 1860 Munich in the 69th minute of play . After he was promoted to the 1st Bundesliga with Hertha BSC , Knoll was loaned to Dynamo Dresden for a year at the beginning of the 2011/12 season.

He then made his debut on July 15, 2011 (1st matchday) for Dynamo, when he was in the starting line-up in the 2-1 away defeat against Energie Cottbus . Knoll scored his first competitive goal in the Dynamo jersey on August 12, 2011 (4th matchday) in a 4-0 home win over 1. FC Union Berlin . For Dresden he made eleven games in the 2nd Bundesliga, in which he scored one goal. In 2012 he returned to Hertha. In the 2012/13 season , which ended for Hertha with promotion to the Bundesliga, Knoll came to six games and one goal.

For the 2013/14 season Knoll moved to SV Sandhausen , with whom he signed a contract until June 30, 2015. He had previously signed a contract with MSV Duisburg , which had become invalid for the MSV after the license was withdrawn. At Sandhausen he made nine appearances in his first season, in the first half of 2014/15 he no longer played a role in coach Alois Schwartz's plans and only came on a brief assignment. In January 2015, he finally moved to third division club SSV Jahn Regensburg , who was in danger of relegation . Knoll could not prevent the move to the Regional League Bayern with Regensburg, but he managed to march through to the 2nd Bundesliga with Jahn in the following two years.

In the summer break of 2018 he finally moved to FC St. Pauli , where he signed a contract until 2022.
