Ersin Zehir (born January 15, 1998 in Lübeck ) is a German-Turkish soccer player . The midfielder is under contract with FC St. Pauli .

Career

Zehir, who describes himself as a “street footballer”, grew up in Lübeck's migrant district and social hotspot, Buntekuh , where he also began playing football. Until 2007 he joined the municipal clubs SC Rapid and Türkischer SV before moving to the city's largest club, VfB Lübeck .

After seven years at VfB, the German-Turks were drawn to FC St. Pauli in Hamburg as a B youth . The midfielder was able to assert himself immediately in both the A and B junior Bundesliga and was regularly in the starting line-up. In his last season as A-Junior, which he finished with the U19 as eighth in the table, Zehir was most of the time over team captain.

After the end of his youth, the Lübeck firmly joined the regional league team and was also in the second division several times in the second half of the season . On the 31st as well as on the 33rd matchday he was able to complete his first short assignments in the professional area. Under the head coaches Markus Kauczinski and Jos Luhukay , Zehir continued to be in both men's squads, with the most appearances (17) for the first team in the 2018/19 season . In April 2019, his contract, which was still valid until 2020, was extended to June 2023.

Zehir is a private fan of FC Bayern Munich . In 2017 he successfully passed his Abitur exams .
