Leart Paqarada (also Pacarada ; born October 8, 1994 in Bremen ) is a Kosovar football player who also has German and Albanian citizenship. The left defender is under contract with the second division FC St. Pauli and is a Kosovar national player .

Career

Paqarada began his career in his hometown at Werder Bremen . In 2003 he moved to the youth team at Bayer 04 Leverkusen . For the 2012/13 season he moved up to the squad of the second team that played in the Regionalliga West . On November 17, 2012, he came to his first regional league appearance in the 3-2 away win against VfB Hüls . He scored his first goal in his last appearance on May 10, 2014, the 4-2 win over FC Schalke 04 II . After the 2013/14 season , Leverkusen announced its second team from the game and Paqarada was able to change free of charge.

For the 2014/15 season Paqarada joined the second division club SV Sandhausen . He made his debut on August 10, 2014 in a 1-1 draw against 1. FC Kaiserslautern . Under three different head coaches, the Kosovar was always placed on the left defensive flank and came to 160 competitive games (152 league games and 8 games in the DFB Cup) for the club (5 goals, 18 assists).

On August 2, 2020, the defender, who had not extended his expiring contract, moved to FC St. Pauli within the league , with whom he signed a three-year contract.

National team

Paqarada played seven times each for the U16 and U17 national teams of the German Football Association . On February 6, 2013, he came to a 0-0 win against Macedonia for the Albanian U21 selection .

On September 7, 2014 Paqarada made his debut in the 1-0 win against Oman in the Kosovar national team . Against Equatorial Guinea (2-0) and Albania (2-2), he played two more appearances in October and November 2015. Paqarada was also used in Kosovo's debut as a FIFA member on 3 June 2016 against the Faroe Islands (2-0). Paqarada was also used the full playing time in Kosovo's first competitive game, the 1-1 on September 5, 2016 in the World Cup qualification against Finland . On March 27, 2018, Paqarada scored his first international goal in a 2-0 win in the friendly against Burkina Faso .
