Regionalliga West 2012/13
3rd division 2013/14

The 2013/14 season of the Regionalliga West was the sixth season of the regional football league as the fourth highest division and the 17th of the Regionalliga West in Germany.

It was opened on July 26, 2013 with the match between SC Fortuna Köln and Alemannia Aachen and ended on May 24, 2014 with the last matchday. The winter break interrupted the season from December 19, 2013 to January 24, 2014.

A sporting relegation from the previous season, 1. FC Köln II , was allowed to stay in the league because Wuppertaler SV did not take part in the league game because of a bankruptcy declaration, but started in the Oberliga Niederrhein . There were no promoters from the Mittelrheinliga 2012/13 . Hilal Bergheim was the only team to apply for a regional league license, but could not reach the third place in the table, which is required for athletic qualification.

On the 35th matchday, SC Fortuna Köln was able to secure the championship. In the promotion games, Fortuna was able to qualify against FC Bayern Munich II for the 3rd football league 2013/14 . Bayer 04 Leverkusen II announced his team after this season of the competition as from 1 so that the third-last KFC Uerdingen 05 could keep the class. It was only after the last match day that the relegated teams were determined with SSVg Velbert and SV Lippstadt 08 .

1 Bayer 04 Leverkusen's second team was dissolved at the end of the 2013/14 season.
2The judging chamber of the West German Football and Athletics Association (WFLV) had deducted three points from KFC Uerdingen 05 from the 2-0 away win on matchday 1 at SG Wattenscheid 09. The Uerdingen had only three instead of the four mandatory German U23 players in their squad. The game was rated 0-2 for both clubs.
3The five worst-placed teams are relegated to the major leagues. The number of relegated clubs decreased to two clubs for the following reasons:
  • With the withdrawal of Leverkusen II, the number of relegated teams decreased by one team.
  • With the rise of SC Fortuna Köln, the number of relegated teams decreased by one team.
  • Since only one team rose from the Oberliga Westfalen instead of the intended two teams, the number of relegated teams decreased by one team.
