The stadium at Lotter Kreuz is a football stadium in the North Rhine-Westphalian municipality of Lotte in the Tecklenburger Land . The arena has a total of 10,059 seats, of which 2,370 seats and 7,689 standing places. The football club Sportfreunde Lotte , in the 2019/20 season in the Regionalliga West , plays its home games here.

history

Since 2003, the main grandstand has been expanded step by step on the facility, which opened on July 19, 1986. In 2006 the stadium was renamed the PGW Arena. In 2007 a covered, two-storey grandstand was completed in the west curve, whereby the lower tier is not fully covered by the roof. Under this grandstand are the showers and changing rooms, from which you can get directly onto the field.

The north straight (opposite stand) was expanded in summer 2008 and thus extends over the entire length of the square. It offers standing space for 2,700 people and is completely covered, although here, too, parts of the lower tier are not fully covered by the canopy. The main stand was expanded again for the 2010/11 season. This increased the capacity of the stadium to 7,474 seats (2,370 seats and 5,104 standing places), almost all of which are covered.

At the end of the 2009/10 season on May 27, 2010, the club, together with the then new name sponsor SN Solartechnics GmbH & Co KG, announced that the stadium will be called SolarTechnics-Arena from July 1, 2010 . From the 2011/12 season, the stadium was named connectM-Arena , named after an advertising agency in Tecklenburg , which, however, filed for bankruptcy in February 2013. Because of its location at the Lotte / Osnabrück motorway junction , the stadium has since been called the Sportpark am Lotter Kreuz . In the promotion round to the 3rd division of the 2012/13 season, a record 5,604 spectators was set in the second leg against RB Leipzig .

As a result of the promotion to the 3rd division at the end of the 2015/16 season , it was necessary to increase the stadium to more than 10,000 seats. For this purpose, a new, initially uncovered grandstand was built on the east side of the stadium during the summer break of 2016, where previously there was a large advertising wall. Furthermore west corner North of the stadium were one in the LED - Video Wall around and around the field promotional rotating boards installed.

In July 2016, the football arena was given the sponsor name FRIMO Stadion . The FRIMO Group GmbH , a company based in Lotte manufacturer of tools and production systems for the production of plastic components, the naming rights secured until 2019. At the DFB Cup match against Werder Bremen on 21 August 2016 was the new east stand for the first time in use. With 10,059 spectators, a new attendance record was set.

On August 18, 2018, SV Rödinghausen played its DFB Cup match against Dynamo Dresden in the Frimo Stadium and won 3-2 after extra time .

After three years, the sponsorship contract with the FRIMO Group ended and the facility was again called Stadion am Lotter Kreuz .
