The Sportclub Arena ( spelling SPORTCLUB Arena ) is the venue of the East Westphalian football club SC Verl . The football stadium has a capacity of 5,153 seats (1,434 seats). Until the start of the renovation in 2015, the system consisted of the covered seating grandstand along the west side of the square, as well as uncovered standing seating on the other three sides. With the modernization, the stadium was given the new name SPORTCLUB ARENA at the end of June 2016.

history

Stadium on Poststrasse (2008)

The stadium already existed before 1994 as a sports field under the name Sportplatz an der Poststrasse . With the qualification of SC Verl for the Regionalliga West-Südwest , it was rebuilt and expanded to meet the requirements of the third-highest division at the time.

In 2008, the stadium was expanded to include additional standing space on the back straight in order to achieve the capacity of 5,001 places required by the DFB for the regional league.

The stadium was rebuilt from May 2015 to July 2016. An all-round roofing, floodlighting and sound system was installed, the grandstand was changed in terms of noise protection , and a VIP room including business area was built. The club and the city each split half of the renovation costs of two million euros.

In August 2015, the floodlight system with six masts was installed. It was used for the first time on October 9, 2015 during a game between SC against the then second division club SC Paderborn 07 (1: 3). The formal opening of the stadium renovation took place on July 15, 2016 with a game between the sports club and Bundesliga club Bayer 04 Leverkusen .
