The 1st football club Germania Egestorf / Langreder e. V. , known as 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder , is a football club from Barsinghausen . The first men's team plays in the Lower Saxony Oberliga after being relegated from the Regionalliga Nord in 2019 .

history

The club was founded on July 1, 2001, when the football departments of TSV Egestorf and TSV Langreder merged on the initiative of the former TSV Langreder player and later Lower Saxony association president Karl Rothmund . The TSV Egestorf played in the 1955/56 season in the then third-class amateur league 3 . The TSV Langreder experienced its sporting heights in the 1990s. After the district league promotion in 1994, the leap into the district class succeeded three years later. In 1999 the team made it into the district league before merging in 2001.

After the merger, Germania started in the district league Hannover 1 and in 2003 made it to the district league Hannover . There the team was runner-up in 2008 with one point behind Prussia Hameln . Two years later, Germania was again runner-up, this time behind SV Arminia Hannover . In 2012 the team finally secured the state league championship prematurely and the associated promotion to the Lower Saxony upper league .

In April 2016, Germania Egestorf qualified for the DFB Cup for the first time with a 6-4 win on penalties against third division club VfL Osnabrück . In the league season 2015/16 , Germania was runner-up behind Lupo Martini Wolfsburg and reached the promotion round to the Regionalliga Nord . With two draws against Bremer SV and SV Eichede , as well as a win against Altona 93 , the promotion was made perfect in June 2016.

The Germania met in the first round of the German Cup 2016/17 to the Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and lost 2,500 spectators in August Wenceslas Stadium in Barsinghausen with 0: 6th After a fifth place in the 2017/18 season , Germania was relegated to the Lower Saxony Oberliga one year later .

The first team of Germania Egestorf / Langreder has been playing in the Ammerke stadium since the 2007/08 season . The stadium is located near the Egestorf train station. On May 22nd, 2012, a roofed grandstand was built on the south side of the square, which consists of 162 seats. In order to be able to finance the construction of the grandstand, up to three Germania players helped on the construction site every day. Interested parties could have their names immortalized on the seat shells at a price of 500 euros. The stadium can hold up to 1,200 spectators, which were last counted at the Lower Saxony Cup final held in Egestorf in 2016. The game ended 2-0 for the reigning cup winner SV Drochtersen / Assel . Since the semi-final of the Lower Saxony Cup 2015/16 against VfL Osnabrück, the stadium has a separate guest area and a fence on the side of the grandstand.

criticism

The club is under criticism because of its multiple personnel overlaps with the Lower Saxony Football Association (NFV) based in Barsinghausen . Jan Baßler, a deputy director of the NFV, is both a player and a manager at Germania. Research by the Kicker sports magazine revealed that in at least one case, Baßler negotiated a player transfer for the club with a rival club. Since copies of all player contracts must be submitted to the NFV, the magazine spoke of a conflict of interest . Conversely, the press spokesman for Egestorf / Langreder Manfred Finge is also press spokesman for the NFV. In addition, numerous Germania players were given jobs at NFV or its subsidiaries after they switched to the club.

Furthermore, the Barsinghausen-based Sporthotel Fuchsbachtal , which is owned by NFV, is a sponsor of 1. FC Germania. The interrelationships extend to the DFB . In a letter of invitation for the 70th birthday, which was signed by the then DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach among others , the recipients were asked for donations for Germania.

The Hanover- born lawyer Jürgen Scholz called 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder as Karl Rothmunds club and made comparisons with the Berlin FC Dynamo , which was the club of Stasi boss Erich Mielke . In addition, the NFV would massively distort the competition with its support for the club . Karl Rothmund's predecessor as NFV chairman Engelbert Nelle once referred to 1. FC Germania as his operating team. NFV President Karl Rothmund told Spiegel Online that he would have "no function at all" at 1. FC Germania Egestorf / Langreder and rejected allegations after the NFV supported the club. In addition, the Lower Saxony Association would not hire anyone with the requirement to play for Germania. Rothmund added that he was not a member of the association and described the allegations made against him and the association as hostility or as impertinence. All personnel decisions at the NFV would have to be approved by both the executive committee and the works council . Germania's former chairman Torsten Seebeck suspected envy behind the allegations at the time.

In July 2017, the Hanover Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation into suspected infidelity to the detriment of the Robert Enke Foundation . The suspicion is followed up as to whether the foundation's funds have been misappropriated. Germania is said to have benefited here too.
